{"id":436,"date":"2011-02-16T17:45:55","date_gmt":"2011-02-16T21:45:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jonetsuphotography.com\/blog\/?p=436"},"modified":"2011-02-16T17:45:55","modified_gmt":"2011-02-16T21:45:55","slug":"sharing-personal-dreamscapes-thanks-opa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jonetsuphotography.com\/blog\/2011\/02\/sharing-personal-dreamscapes-thanks-opa.html","title":{"rendered":"Sharing Personal Dreamscapes, thanks Opa."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When we returned from shooting in Jamaica, my Mother told me that Opa had passed away.\u00a0 He was 97 and he died in his sleep, just like Oma did at 92.\u00a0 Now they will be together again.\u00a0 I envision them with party hats on drinking champagne overlooking the lush countryside.\u00a0 I am sad, of course, but also invigorated to make the most of my short life on this Earth.\u00a0 Among many things, my Opa was an artist- an artist in a closet.\u00a0 He thought it was really cool that I was using his old slides and film to make artwork to be enjoyed- BIG artwork.<\/p>\n<p>I will always wonder what kind of life he would have led had he expressed or revealed his passion for photography on a more public level.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m aware that my Dreamscapes may alienate some folks, but I&#8217;ve decided to share them anyway.\u00a0 These are two of my first pieces made in 2008: Langoustine With Car and Langoustine In Ashtray.\u00a0 Completely personal messy mind stuff, really.\u00a0 Back story is that I have yet to try a good langoustine dish.\u00a0 I had such high hopes &#8211; they&#8217;re supposed to taste like a cross between lobster and crab- two of my favorite things.\u00a0 We bought them all over Europe and they disappointed time after time.\u00a0 Dry, fishy- or just plain blah.\u00a0 Then I started to see them everywhere- untouched laying in an ashtray in Venice- staring at me at the side of a huge platter of paella in Spain.\u00a0 I won&#8217;t give up on the langoustine though, they&#8217;ve come to mean more to me than simply a crustacean to conquer.<\/p>\n<p>These are very large canvases:<\/p>\n<p>(nervous to press &#8220;publish&#8221;
