Merry Christmas from Camille & Chadwick

It’s Christmas Eve and all I can think about now is getting off of the computer, closing the home office door and getting on to family leisure times.  Just launched the last of five recent family portrait sessions and we both feel really good- minus a sore neck.  I also feel like there was so much more I could have accomplished before the door closes.  Personal gift photographs for example- just ran out of time.  Alas, it’s time to let go of the season’s pressures and count our blessings…

The loves in our lives are close this year.  Oh boy, here come the tears. I just have to get this done so I can shut the door…. This is the last Christmas we’ll have here with our niece and nephew and bro & sis in law living in BC.  They are moving 3000 miles away next month and it’s breaking our hearts.  A couple of weeks ago, we gifted Joelle & Josiah with their own “kid” cameras (see results below).  The resolution on these pink & blue plastic cameras is poor but it’s our hope they will use them to document their lives in their new home and share their images with us over time.  We had hoped to watch them grow up and see through their eyes by standing next to them, holding their hands and squeezing them until their heads pop off- but we will have to count on Skype, trips across Canada and their photo stream to do that.  This is a good move for them-we know this.  But it really hurts inside.  We are so looking forward to these next few days.  Must keep it together.

Wonderful long-term clients that have become friends.  We feel so honored to have met such kind and open people who trust us to capture their loved ones.  It’s a special opportunity to be able to follow along with someone’s life journey.  I’m grateful for these opportunities.  Thank you to all of our clients for your continued support over the years.

Vancouver wedding industry friends: 2011 will be the best year we have seen.  I believe that the caring people in this industry are becoming more creative and gutsy and open and because of this, the Vancouver area will continue to be the best place in the World to get married.  It’s true.  Continuing to support each other, pushing for quality, genuine creativity and great customer service this coming year will benefit everyone.

To my husband.  I love you like crazy business- let’s get the heck out of this office and snuggle a dog or two by the fireplace!

OK, here is our tree this year.  It’s special for us because it’s the exact tree we used in the shoot for the cover of Christmas With You last year.  I went to one of my favourite stores Hudson Madison in Abbotsford (the shoot location) and they were kind enough to sell it to us and we are so happy to have it in our home.  Anytime you’re looking for a gift or sexy little accessory for your home- shop here and you will leave satisfied.

Last year we had a flocked noble fir and found out later that we could not recycle it (!!) so artificial was the way to go from here on in.  Featuring old-school mini lights (I’m sorry, I’m over the LEDs: one point up for the environment (fake tree) meets one point down (my mini-light choice)…  what can I say- quality of light is EVERYTHING to me!).

This year, I was inspired by a box of tinsel.  The tree is decorated with a mish-mash of hand-painted ornaments by family, vintage crochet and glass ornaments, new-school  President’s Choice sparkly love and a few horribly wrong gag gifts that hide deep inside the crevasses.

way too large image of the inspiration for our holiday decor this year!  vintage icicle box:

and finally-  here are the first images the monkeys captured with their new kid cameras- dinner at our place:

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night. xo c

Merry Christmas, you two! Love the post, the tree, all of it. And I am right with you on the LEDs… hopefully the Prius makes up for a few of my old school mini lights this year. 😉 Looking forward to hanging out a bit more hopefully in 2011!
